I was first introduced to Jill Scott at the age of 12! I am the youngest of five girls (i am a twin) and all of my older sisters were neo-soul listeners, so you can only imagine how my household was while i was in Middle School. i instanly grew to love Jill and my first love was of course "A Long Walk". Well one day at school one of my teachers over heard me singing a long walk and went and told all of my other teachers that i could sing. At the time my school was putting on a the play 'The Wiz" and after all rehersals the crew would just mess around after. After one rehersal someone got on the mic and started rapping, well his rapping got everyone hype so more people joined in. After the clowning around my teacher finaly got on the stage and made it quiet in the room. i wasnt paying attention when i heard her call my name to come and sing A Long Walk. I WAS SO NERVOUS AND EMBARRASSED!! Lol but i went up and did it and everyone from that day on would ask me to sing. Well fast forward 12 years later and i still have that same love for jill Scott and go see her whenever shes in the town that im in. i met a good friend of mine while at one of her concerts Aaron Draper, who plays in her band. Even though i would sometimes play around to Aaron about introducing me to Ms. Scott, im usually very serious and i would still tell him today, that one day my dreams of being a back-up singer for Jill Scott will come true one day...............
