When I was finally able to buy my tickets, Jill had already sold out here in Houston for Wed, Feb 20th. My co-worker & I decided to try to catch her in one of the surrounding cities like Dallas, Austin or San Antonio. I checked online that Tuesday & found out she was in Dallas/Grand Prairie, TX with seats still available that night. I was so excitied, I ran to my supervisor to beg if I could have the rest of the day off of work, she allowed me so I called my co-worker, she stated she could not go due to the short notice. I then called Toyota rent-a-car to arrange for a pick up, I then went online to ticketmasters & bought my ticket. I then printed out directions on Yahoo Maps on how to get to Grand Prairie, Tx. I picked up the rental car and flew home to change clothes & gather my outfit for the night. The show started at 8pm & I left Houston in 5 o’clock rush hour traffic. I had three hours to get there. I arrived at a gas station on the same street as the Nokia theatre where Jill would be performing. I asked if I could use the gas station’s restroom to change into my outfit. I made it to the theatre at 8:10pm. Jill was already on stage & I was shown to my seat. I was so excited & it was worth the drive. She is as awsome in person as she is on TV. I am one of her biggest fans. The concet was off the hook! Leaving the concert, I took the wrong freeway and ended up 60 miles out of the way . I had to turn around at the next little town which was 20 miles away. I drove back into Dallas to the outshirts of Dallas to find the highway back to Houston. I was so sleepy at this point I began to pull over and ask how much for a couple of hours of sleep at the local motels. They wanted the same amt as a full night stay. I purchased a soda and got back onto the road. Driving sleepy on the higway with 18 wheelers, I kept saying to myself, it was so worth it, stay wake! I finally found the main highway back to Houston and pulled over to the nearest truck stop. I asked the clerk if I could park my car between two 18wheelers and get a couple of hours of sleep. He said it would be ok. I woke up after 3 hours of sleep and went into the store to buy some coffee, “how did you sleep”? asked the clerk, “not too good but it was better than nothing” I responded. I hit the hwy at 5am and made it back to Houston around 8am. I went home, showered and took a 2 hr nap, then I got up and went to work for 12noon. My supervisor was surprised to see me. She said “why did you come in today, I offered you the day off, did you have fun?” As I walked passed her I said to her in a tiring voice “yes, it was sooooo worth it!” Thank you!

LOL DAM what up Marilyn from Houston, and my best friends say I’m a Jill fanatic. But I’ve heard it all honey Thanks for sharing your story, it was great to read. It’s amazing how someone you barely know, you can love like they were your own family. I’ve always been a Jill fan, but this time around, she really touched my soul deeply. And I thought I would never love anybody more than Lil Kim LOL. But don’t feel bad, because I saw her last night in D.C. and I’m going to see her again Friday night.
Peace

I saw Jill ‘The Real Thing’ here in Dallas and she was absolutely fantastic!! All I can say is, “What a show!” She is truly amazing. If you ever get the opportunity to see her live, please do so.

I love love love Jill Scott. March 22 in Richmond, VA I finally seen her live again (first time was the Sugar Water). I invited my sister and I think everything Jill had to say left a mark in my sisters heart, mind, and soul because of what she is going thru with her husband. I want to thank her for being real and lovely as ever. I will see this show more than once and hopefully I will get better seats.

Jill!,
I went to your “Real Thing” concert at DAR Constitution Hall in Wash, D.C. on Saturday, March 15th. INCREDIBLE! You gave it your all from beginning to end, and I LOVE YOU for it! Also, your song, “And I Heard,” really touched my SPIRIT, and it was meant for me to hear those words that night. I have been a fan of yours since DAY ONE, but this is my first time seeing you in concert, and all I can say is, WOW! Your whole…ESSENCE was so captivating that I just stared and enjoyed the moments you shared with us. You are an inspiration to me in so many ways, but mostly because of your CONFIDENCE. To me, you personify what Maya Angelou was talking about in her poem, “Phenomenal Woman.” That’s you! Thanks Jill–for EVERYTHING!

Jill, I’ve always felt the stories you bring, but after seeing you live here in Memphis I truley appreciate your journey. You & I don’t know each other personnally, but our highs & lows seem to travel together. Thank you for putting my joys as well as sorrows to music. Your music is my spoon full of sugar, it really helps the medicine go down.
May you always be Blessed,
De from Memphis
