Jill –

I’ve loved your music for so many year (I was also a professional musician who worked with artists like Smokey Robinson, the Pointer Sisters, Ashford & Simpson, amonst many others, before I became totally and permanently disabled in 1997). My wife got me to watch “Why Did I Get Married?”–and your performance with Tyler Perry was an absolute revelation!

But it was your HBO film, and then series, of “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” that truly brought out your artistry as one of the most luminary actresses of our generation. At the end of the penultimate episode, when the HBO voice-over artist announced (paraphrasing), “Here are scenes from the season-finale of ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,’” my wife and I simultaneously said to each other “Season finale? Already?!”

I remember reading in “TV Guide” that a question was posed of Matt Roush if a second season was ordered for “No. 1″ and the answer was the BBC and HBO hadn’t decided yet.

Is that still the situation? Please tell me that the two networks have, and that the answer is YES! We so DO need quality television, especially family television like “No 1.” We need to see Precious (and she is so aptly named) get remarried and be finally happy in married to a humble man who will respect her.

We need another season in beautiful Botswana. We need another season of your wonderful supporting cast including the phenomenal Anika Noni Rose. But most of all, we need another season of
