The Grammy Goes To……. Jill Scott! Why? Because she has the MOST EVEN Album in the category. The album flows and DAMMIT that’s refreshing…Tell me a story. I don’t need to do aerobics or pilates to Ms. Jill. I need to remember the exact thing that happen to me when Jill is singing. She sings tha damn song and WE feel tha damn song. I believe she will also win with Lupe Fiasco.
I’m a BIG Chaka fan, and her album is GOOD, Real Good. If they had played the acapella version of ‘Disrespectful’ with Mary J. I would say Chaka just on that song alone. It’s That Sick! But Ms. Jill put the Lay Down, Spray Down On- My Love, Only You, The Ridiculous Crown Royal (Breathing Exercise), and the sleeper Imagination (”Crown Royal Suite.”) Ya’ll know the rest. It just aint fair LOL.
Musiq is a good artist but it’s not his year. Congrats Ms. Jill! Right On.
Man. What I can say? Of course Jill should win! Duh, who doesn’t know that? She always switches it up..and this album (all of her albums) show her growing as a mature, grown ass woman and coming into herself. The other contenders are good. And, like the article said Musiq has done his thing..but I pray Jill wins. Because Jill is definitely, “the QUEEN with the nappy hair raising her fist.” Nothing more to say.
I’ll be watching Sunday night, hoping and praying.
*Last thing, either way Jill will get the credit she deserves. Real fans recognize her artistry and sincerity.
*One last thing! Can’t wait to see you 2/23rd at the Fabolous Fox Theatre. I know it’s going to be absolutely crazy!
I just heard my first Jill Scott song live on Jazzpel. (I am a white man, don’t listen to station that play her). I loved it and it grooved like Pheobe Snow, whom I admire also. Congratulations on your Grammy nod! Please sign me up for the Live in Paris recording, please. Michael A. Semper/257 Crestwood Drive/Hobart, IN 46342 (Chicago area)
Jill should win!! She speaks and sings from her heart .
