Jill Scott has a bility to take her listeners on the journey that she has already been on. She is able to articulate who you feel in ways that you never imagined! Her album dropped on my bday and I left work and went to the store to pick it up… and I was NOT disappointed! Jill you have done it again. Jill, I mean what can I say that hasn’t already been said about this collection of sheer genius! Vol. 3 is amazing and just frankly — Real Jill! Good Lord are you a poet! How is it you can write and sing about exactly what I’m feeling? I too am currently going thru a painful break-up and My Love speaks to me in such ways that it moved me to tears! Yes, she cheated on me with another “woman” b/c yup, just as you’ve said — because she was as “sweet as pie” (Genius Jill, Pure Genius) but is she happy without me – NOPE! Insomnia is exactly what I had this summer all while losing 30 lbs! Jill you did it on this CD! It’s like therapy for me! Keep up the excellent work I’ll definitely be at your Philly show!

Girl, you have been blessed with the gift of SONG. ALL of your music…. is like a breath of fresh air.. it’s what music, was created to be . Your Lyrics…Your Songs… are provocative, inspiring, motivating, emotional, beautiful, endearing, encouraging, breath-taking, happy, sad, make you close your eyes and shake your head, REAL… Your music is HUMAN…. I LOVE “THE REAL THING”. I am really disappointed however that some of the Black Pop Culture blogs are not talking about it. With some at 100k unique hits a day-they wield a lot of power–but seem to be seduced by the easy teeny booper crowd, pics and news.
I think its gone over a lot of people’s heads. And maybe thats ok. This is GROWN FOLKS MUSIC.
Jill Scotts’s THE REAL THING:
This cd rocks! Jill definitely encompasses all
genres i.e., soul, rock, gospel and blues in this cd. The words, the feeling, the instrumentation are all augmented with her versatile voice. It was well worth the wait (even though she teased us with COLLABORATIONS). Track number 11, WHENEVER YOU’RE AROUND is hot, hot, hot and should be released as the next single. It has the same kind of ‘feel good’ groove as LONG WALK. Also noted: CROWN ROYAL, HOW IT MAKE YOU FEEL are standouts. I rate it as a 10!
