Cornel West Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations
Cornel West's danceable education brings hip-hop to its roots.
This album features Talib Kweli, Prince, Jill Scott, Andre 3000, Tavis
Smiley, and KRS-1.
“The Nanny Diaries,” starring Scarlett Johansson as Annie Braddock, a would-be anthropologist from New Jersey forced to survive – as a nanny – among the treacherous tribes of New York City’s Upper East Side.
“The movie is based on a best-selling book,” says Artists’ Addiction principal and soundtrack producer Jonathan Scott Miller, “so there are a lot of fans out there who’ve been waiting for it since the book came out in 2002. We wanted to further enhance the experience of the story for them with the ‘Nanny Diaries’ soundtrack.” Miller is joined as soundtrack producer by veteran music execs and principals Jonathan McHugh and Jonathan Platt.
The Nanny Diaries Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is indeed a spirited outing, from Lily Allen’s breezy “LDN” to Marvin Gaye’s deeply funky “Got to Give It Up” to Fatal Mambo’s irresistible “Magot Tcheri (In the Summertime).” Also showcased are Jill Scott’s romantic “The Fact Is (I Need You),” Simply Red’s soulful “Stay,” Tommy James & The Shondells’ gem “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” WAR’s classic “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” Lisa Stansfield’s smoothly groovin’ “All Around the World,” The Main Ingredient’s enduring “Just Don’t Want To Be Lonely,” Odyssey’s disco delicacy “Native New Yorker,” Urban Delights’ addictive dance jam “Won’t Let You Down,” the driving rock of The Hold Steady’s “Stuck Between Stations,” and Joshua Radin’s lovely, lilting “Closer.” The album wraps up with the charming “Raitra (Big Island Radio Mix),” by Madagascar’s Tarika, and the Spanish jazz-pop score excerpt “Museum Visit,” by composer Mark Suozzo.
Concludes McHugh: “This album is a perfect souvenir for people who love the movie, but it’s also just a great CD to throw on at a party.”

Jill, you are the best. Love all of your albums. I’m definitely feeling this new one. Very different. You have grown beautifully. I love the song ‘My Love’ and ‘All I’. The entire album over all is great but those are my two fav songs. Keep doing your thing.

Ms. Scott, first I’d like to say thank you. thank you for putting out music that has touched so many. There have been times when I was in difficult predicaments, or have had to make difficult decsions, and when i listend to a song, it totally changed my mood. made me think about what i was doing. All im really saying is that you have made an impact through your songs. Then to add to that, you have brought normal women to the forefront of the beauty stage. Its sad when u see all these so call “most beautiful women” and none of them are really what u would see everyday. As a man it makes me mad when i hear alot of women or ppl in general not be happy with themselves, solely because of whats popular. Its partly because of you that i admire plus size women. Im trying to say what i want in a respectful manner but quite frankly you are just fine and i love ur music, please DONT stop unless u want to or cant. I love your voice and production. I think ur style is something that is way better than even what beyonce is offering! I wish there were alot more ppl who could see what i see, feel what i feel i gotta stop rambling GOD bless
